The scheduled treatment (planned treatment)

If you travel to our hospital for treatment, you should receive an authorisation for treatment abroad by your health insurance. For inpatient hospital treatment, the health insurance of your home country needs to be contacted prior to treatment.

Your local health insurance will issue a S2 form (formerly E112). The S2 form certifies your claim for a scheduled medical treatment. Your next step should be a registration with the S2 form at one of the approx. 150 different German public health insurance companies. Here you can find a complete list of all German public health insurance companies.

If you have not received authorisation, then your treatment costs will not be covered automatically. You can still claim reimbursement on your return, but there is no guarantee that your claim will be accepted.
